Happy First Day of Spring!

I will be exhibiting new work at Washington’s River Farm Estate, the headquarters of the American Horticultural Society. Come join me for this beautiful event! Bring a picnic and enjoy the new season on the Potomac.

This is an image of my neighbor, Nina. She wore a butterfly raincoat one day and when I saw her, the idea for this painting came to mind. She was so excited to see it once it was complete!

Paradise is ___.

Dear Reader,

Since the New Year, I have created many paintings and collages featuring the beauty of the changing seasons and my new neighborhoods. As I document the colors of nature - I continue to think about my ongoing theme of PARADISE. I am imagining what heaven will be like. In this process, I’ve remembered that heaven is also in the present moment. We see sacred, holy things every day and the titles have changed from “Paradise will be….” to “Paradise is…”

“Paradise is Resting in the Grass without Fear”
“Paradise is Healing”

Last newsletter, I asked for thoughts, musings or book recommendations on this theme. (Please keep sending them!) I’m grateful to my prior student, Elliot, for chiming in and saying that Paradise is “Friends…like an Oasis!” From this contribution, I dug out this photograph (from Art Camp in Baltimore. Now I am creating a painting of this image to depict Elliot’s definition. I am pursuing an exhibition in 2025 to showcase all my images of Paradise. Join in by sending your own contributions or even images!

A final thing to note is that I exhibited at the Falls Church Arts Gallery in February and my painting won the People’s Choice Award! I was honored to be selected and featured in the local paper.
